Why Skill Training

Small group skills training helps to accelerate skill growth in players of all ages, and also allows for a more focused environment for the students to develop with other serious and committed players their age.

Each weekly session typically is planned to address a variety of different skills to help make the players better overall and round out their abilities, while also focusing on addressing specific deficiencies in each player on a continuous basis that can be difficult to do in a larger team setting.

The players also learn to develop good practice habits, gain a sense of self worth by doing the work, and gain extra confidence with their skill that carries over into all other areas of their game.

What is Offered

The players work on different foundation skills within each 1 hour session every week in an age appropriate process focused on quick skill development in a fun and engaging process with high repetitions.

Some of the topics that will be covered throughout the season may involve the following:

• Stickhandling

• Passing (Forehand & Backhand)

• Skating (Edgework, stance, stride, balance, weight shifts, coordination, stability, etc.)

• Shooting (Forehand & Backhand)

• Scanning/Pre-Scanning

• Offensive and Defensive Situations and Concepts

• Competitive Contact
